Welcome.  Human life in this world, from birth to death, is a process in and through which we grow, learn and mature.  Our lives are unfolding

stories as we journey through life stages and develop as persons, all along discovering Jesus’ invitation to “come, follow me.”  Adolescence is

a chapter of that larger story.  It is a stage of the journey marked by self-discovery and dramatic changes as a youth moves toward maturity.

We don’t want to just teach youth about God, but to also inspire them to come to know God through Jesus Christ and make the Bible a part

of their everyday lives.  Adolescents will be invited to have a personal faith experience with God.  We’ll use self-directed and group centered

activities to develop independent learning, reasoning and team building skills.   Youth will have an opportunity to articulate their faith and

express the Bible story’s impression upon their hearts.  And, more importantly discover how awesome loving God is.

2008-09 Program:  “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.

The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on rock.”

(Matthew 7:24-25).

Jesus frequently used common experiences to help people understand his message.  Being a carpenter, a story using the construction of

houses probably came naturally to him.  A foundation of stone had to be deep and substantial.  It required an intentional effort to construct

it.  What this parable is saying is exactly what we want to offer our children.  We want to partner with parents to help children, particularly,

adolescents to build a strong foundation so that when the rains and storms of life assail them (and they will at some time or another), their

house of faith will not fall away.  Building on God gives them strength and shelter.
