Welcome. Small groups meet in homes, apartments, local
restaurants, and the church building to discuss, explore and question what it
means to be a
Christian today. Groups vary in size
and meet as often as they like; most will meet for an hour or two. We hope that you
will feel
welcome to try any of the small groups out.
Visiting doesn’t mean you have to attend all the sessions. And you won’t be asked
to participate
beyond what you are comfortable doing.
Some people may decide to visit a small group before ever attending a
Sunday
worship
service – and that’s ok.
The small
groups will focus on life issues, questions and challenges. People interested in moving forward in their
faith journey at the point
where life
intersects with biblical truths will find the small group discussions to be
very helpful. Sometimes, the best and
most effective
of us need to
reach out and inward to go to deeper depths and higher heights of who we are
and of the world in which we live. Our
journeys are
unique, but along the way we’re reminded and will discover that God has done
and is doing marvelous things in our lives.
2008-09
Program: People
who are hungry for and have been waiting for the opportunity to be in community
with others may find our
small group
discussion sessions interesting and helpful.
Strangers and friends get together and pray and spend time studying
God’s
Word and
fellowshipping. Wherever you are on your
spiritual journey, being in relationship with others is important for spiritual
growth.
From
gathering with others as you check out the Christian faith to developing
relationships while studying and learning together, our
small group
gatherings provide a place for you to grow in your journey. Every journey has a destination. Please feel
free to join us.
• Oct. 10
& 24, 2008: Bearing
Good Fruit (2 sessions). Imagine your whole household being inspired
to a life that leads to excellence
and
fruitfulness. That kind of inspiration
can be done through a faith community that offers a gracious welcome of Christ
… enables
people to
grow in faith … worships in a way that changes hearts and minds … makes a
positive difference in the lives of others and
thrives on
generosity to others. This is a family
event, so bring your children with you to the sessions.
• Nov. 14,
28 & Dec. 12, 2008: The Reality of Life (3 sessions). These are
precarious times for families. Financial
pressures, hectic
schedules,
setting boundaries for kids – it’s enough to be a challenge for any
family. We can’t eliminate the problems,
but we can
explore how
God can get us through the tough stuff, all while discovering friendship,
support and encouragement.
• Feb. 13,
2008 – April 24, 2009: Making Love Last a Lifetime (10 sessions). Couples will explore the topics of love,
marriage and sex
to reflect on
God’s purpose for the intimate and important parts of their lives. There will also be a chance for couples to discover
new
insights
about commitment, discipleship and relationships. Come and enjoy a light meal and be encouraged
to take steps to strengthen
one of the
most important aspects of life.
Childcare will be provided foe selected sessions. A donation of $20.00 (per couple, per
session)
to cover the
cost of materials and a light dinner will be appreciated.
• May 8
& 22, 2009: Jesus
and Us (2 sessions). This study will offer a fresh perspective on
who Jesus is; how he related to the people
around him
and how he interacts with us today.
Childcare will be provided. Cost
of the session is $30.00, per person, for materials and
refreshments.
• June 12
& 26, 2009: Be
the Change You Want to See in the World (2 sessions). When you use your gifts and passions to serve
others,
it honors God
and allows God’s world and people to thrive.
From welcoming strangers to mentoring teens to working with your hands
and much more
-- there are a lot of needs that can be met by your unique contributions. And when you step up to serve, God can use
you in ways
you never expected. High School and
college students will have a chance to live out Jesus’ teaching about
identifying with
people in
need by going on a five day mission trip.
Specific dates and location for the mission trip will be determined
later. We hope that
children and
adults will take the opportunity to put to use the gifts and skills that God
has given each of us.
